About 10 Years
had its beginnings around the turn of the millennium in Knoxville, Tennessee, and would solidify in the early 2000s around
lead vocalist Jesse Hasek, drummer and guitarist Brian Vodinh, guitarist Ryan "Tater" Johnson, and bassist Lewis Cosby. In
2004 they would release their independent EP entitled Killing All That Holds You. Four studio tracks as well as some live
acoustic recordings would later be added to the EP. Heavily influenced by progressive rock masters Deftones and Tool, the
band would gain an enthusiastic local fan base.
In 2005, 10 Years got a deal with Republic/Universal. They would release
their studio debut The Autumn Effect in August of that year. This album would earn the band invitations to tour with a number
of alt metal heavyweights for the next three years, such as Disturbed, Breaking Benjamin, Mudvayne, Sevendust, Korn, Hatebreed,
and their inspiration, Deftones.
Dedicated to quality output and creative integrity, 10 Years would spend over a year
writing their next album, Division. Tidbits from the project would be released from time to time, such as the band's collaboration
with Stone Temple Pilots and Dean DeLeo for the song "Focus" and a demo of "All Your Lies" released on MySpace in 2007. The
hit single "Beautiful" would also be released early. Following a tour with metal masters like Dir En Grey and Chevelle, Division
would be released in 2008.
For their next album, Feeding the Wolves, the band enlisted the expertise of producer and
Grammy laureate Howard Benson. Released in 2010, Feeding the Wolves would be the heaviest output of the band to date. To promote
the release, the band toured with Puddle of Mudd, Sevendust, and Chevelle for the 2010 Carnival of Madness.
the Wolves, the band was eager to depart from industry standards such as the three-and-a-half minute song, and they decided
to take a creative leap and start their own label, Palehorse Records. 10 Years released Minus the Machine in 2012 on Palehorse
and recorded the album at Vodinh's own Kashmir Recording.
After some minor adjustments, the lineup currently consists
of Jesse Hasek, Brian Vodinh, and Tater Johnson, as well as bassist Ryan Collier, guitarist Chad Huff, and touring drummer
10 Years has produced a number of hit singles and albums. "Wasteland" would
be their biggest song thus far. It takes on the important issues of social justice and addiction. The music video would earn
two nominations at the 2005 MTV Video Music Awards in the categories of Best Art Direction and Best Direction. The single
itself would hit number one in the modern rock track charts. "Beautiful" from Division was another major success, and would
peak at number six in the mainstream rock charts.
10 Years' commitment to their craft is evident in their enduring popularity
in the alternative music scene. Division, Feeding the Wolves, and Minus the Machine would all peak in the U.S. top ten alternative
charts, and in the top thirty overall.
