About 3 Doors Down
3 Doors Down was formed in Mississippi
by Brad Arnold, Matt Roberts, and Todd Harrell. The band came up with their name one day during a trip to Foley, Alabama while
on tour. The three bandmates were walking by a building that was missing some letters from its sign, with just the words "…Doors
Down" remaining. Because at the time their band had three people, they had the idea of putting a "3" in front of "Doors Down."
3 Doors Down had been playing together for a while, they happened to give a demo to a local radio station. One of the songs
that was included on the demo was their famous hit "Kryptonite," which became the number one requested song on the radio station
for weeks. Their popularity on the radio station caught the attention of Republic Records, with whom they were later signed.
Their first album, "The Better Life," was released in February of 2000, and it was an immediate success. The album became
one of the best-selling albums of the year, and it has been certified 6x platinum. "The Better Life" produced the hit songs
"Kryptonite," "Duck and Run," and "Loser." After the success of their debut album, 3 Doors Down returned to the studio to
begin recording their second album, "Away From The Sun," which was released in November of 2002. "Away From The Sun" was also
a massive success, selling millions of copies worldwide.
In 2003, the band released a live EP called "Another 700 Miles,"
which was a collection of live songs from a performance in Chicago. Proving yet again that they weren't just one-hit wonders,
3 Doors Down's live EP album was met with praise upon its release and was eventually certified Gold in the U.S. Their subsequent
album releases have continued to enjoy success, including their third album "Seventeen Days," which was certified Platinum.
In addition, their fourth album debuted at the number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart, and sold 154,000 copies in the
first week alone. It produced the fan favorite singles "Train," "Citizen/Soldier," "It's Not My Time," and "Let Me Be Myself."
3 Doors Down's Breakthrough Album
After recognizing their talent, Republic Records signed 3 Doors Down and helped
launch what would be an enormously successful career. The band's debut release "The Better Life" remains their best-selling
record to date, with over five million copies sold in the United States. The singles "Kryptonite," "Be Like That," and "Loser"
all managed to break into the Billboard Hot 100 charts, and one can't think of 3 Doors Down without humming those familiar
melodies. The huge success of their debut album paved the way for their future success, as several of their subsequent albums
went on to sell millions of copies worldwide.
