.38 Special has been rocking stages in more than 100 cities yearly for close to four decades! Their arena-rock anthems include "Rockin' Into the Night," "Caught Up in You," "Hold On Loosely," "Back Where You Belong," "Second Chance," "Fantasy Girl" and more! These hits have earned their place as classics - the kind of tunes you know right away from the moment you hear the very first chord.

On the band's website, vocalist/guitarist Don Barnes said, "This music keeps our wheels on the road. We're a band that's tried to stay honest with what has driven us over the years. We started out with nothing but bold determination to make our own history and to endure. Looking back now, it has been our greatest pride to have persevered and attained that level of success and longevity. For us, it's the ultimate validation."

True to their dedicated work ethic,.38 Special is back on the road again. .38 Special Background

.38 Special was founded in Jacksonville, Florida, by Donnie Van Zant in 1975. Van Zant was joined by Don Barnes (guitar, vocals); Jeff Carlisi (guitar); Steve Brookins (drums); Ken Lyons (bass); and Jack Grondin (drums). In 1977,.38 Special inked a contract with A&M Records and put out their first album. Their self-titled debut effort and their sophomore album, Special Delivery, didn't make a big splash on the music scene, but the band started to tour regularly to get its brand and name in the face of music lovers. Rockin' Into the Night dropped in 1979 followed by Wild-Eyed Southern Boys in 1981. The latter album made waves with its single, "Hold On Loosely." The album eventually earned platinum certification. In 1982, Special Forces arrived, generating the Top 10 track, "Caught Up in You." The band carried on its successful momentum with Tour de Force (1983) and Strength in Numbers (1986). Flashback came along in 1987, which was a greatest hits compilation. The album garnered success but the band used their ingenuity to preserve its audience by cutting the refined Rock & Roll Strategy. Issued in 1989, the album's success was bolstered by the single "Second Chance" - a modern-day ballad that made its way to the Top 10. They also released Bone Against Steel (1991); Resolution (1997); A Wild-Eyed Christmas Night (2001); Drivetrain (2004); and.38 Special Live from Texas (2011).

These days, the lineup is comprised of Danny Chauncey (guitarist); Don Barnes (guitarist/vocalist); Gary Moffatt (drummer); Barry Dunaway (bassist); and Bobby Capps (keyboardist). Van Zant hasn't toured with the band for a couple of years because of health problems but he did lend his talents to recording and writing. In 2013, Van Zant retired from music.

.38 Special Concert Experience

The '80's rock sensation.38 Special delivers an explosive performance with each and every live show they put on. Don Barnes (guitarist, vocalist) said, "We never wanted to be one of those bands that had maybe gotten a little soft or complacent over the years. We're a team, and it's always been kind of an unspoken rule that we don't slack up, we stack up. We go out there every night to win." He added, "And the magic's still there. It's an emotional high for us to keep 'bringing it' after all these years. That's what you hear on the new live stuff, that sense of urgency and power. When those lights go down and we all walk up those steps to the stage and hear that crowd roar, it's a real rush to the head. It feels like we're getting ready to strap ourselves in and it just takes off from there."

That's why when you and your friends go see a.38 Special concert, you need to "hold on loosely, but don't let go" because.38 Special is sure to give you an unforgettable ride!
