Designed by John Eberson, the Orpheum Theatre in Wichita, Kansas first opened in September 1922 as the first atmospheric
theatre in the US. Designed with a Spanish style, Carl Hobitzelle was the first proprietor of the "Orpheum Circuit," where
during its vaudeville days saw more than 17,000 acts. In 1980 it was deemed a National Register of Historic Places.
