The Afro-Cuban All Stars are an aptly-named group comprised of musicians with one mission in mind: to bring the sounds of Cuba to the world. To accomplish their mission, the members of Afro-Cuban All Stars routinely book a variety of live shows around the world, like their upcoming gig at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta, Georgia.
One of the strengths of the Afro-Cuban All Stars is the many different musicians that make up the multi-generational band. The members of Afro-Cuban All Stars range from teenagers to octogenarians, with everything in between. The start of Afro-Cuban All Stars came about in the 1990s, when ex-Sierra Maestra drummer Juan De Marcos Gonzalez decided to bring Afro-Cuban music to the masses.
One of the reasons that the Afro-Cuban All Stars have been so popular is group's ability to bring together a wide range of genres. Some of their influences come from genres like Mambo, salsa, rumba, cha cha, bolero, timba, guajira and more.
