Air Force Falcons Football Team Info
For years now, the United States
Air Force Academy football program has been a feared one in NCAA football, and that's not something that's likely to change
any time in the near future. The history of the Air Force Falcons dates back to the first team in the 1950s, and since then
they have had many great moments that fans are always reminiscing about. In the Mountain West, the Falcons routinely go up
against teams like San Diego State, Utah State, Boise State and more, which means that it tends to be powerhouse versus powerhouse
whenever the Falcons take to the field. Add it all up and this is a team that comes with plenty of fanfare wherever it goes
for a reason.

Air Force Falcons Football History
The history of the Air Force Falcons
runs back to 1955, just a year after the founding of the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. The most successful of all
Falcons' football teams was the 1985 squad, who finished the season with a 12-1 record, just one win from playing for the
national title. Though the Falcons lost to the #16 BYU Cougars to end their undefeated streak, Hall of Fame Coach Fisher DeBerry
and the Air Force squad defeated nine ranked opponents that season, including programs like Notre Dame, Army, Navy, New Mexico,
Hawaii and Texas, who they beat in the Bluebonnet Bowl. From there, the wins kept coming for the Falcons as they continue
to make waves in the Mountain West, a conference loaded with great programs that know how to compete on the gridiron. With
the Falcons eying up another trip to a prominent bowl game, it doesn't get any better than this if you bleed the blue and
silver of Air Force.
Air Force Falcons Football Trivia
At one point, a Falcon set the single-season record
for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback with 23. Can you name the player?
The answer is Chance Harridge, who was absolutely
electric during a brilliant 2002 campaign in which he set the all-time NCAA record for a quarterback. Though the feat was
eventually matched by Tim Tebow and surpassed by Ricky Dobbs, Harridge's spectacular season in 2002 remains one of the very
best in the history of the program.
