The main affiliate of the National League’s Los Angeles Dodgers, the Albuquerque Isotopes formed in 2003 after the Calgary Cannons moved to New Mexico. Previously, the city of Albuquerque had been represented by the Albuquerque Dukes, who relocated to Portland, Oregon in 2001. Interestingly enough, the name Isotopes comes from a fan’s suggestion as a reference to the baseball team on the popular TV show “The Simpsons.” The Isotopes play in the Southern Division of the Pacific Coast League.
