Born in Illinois, Alison Krauss was raised in an artistic household. She was just five years old
when she started learning how to play classical violin, but she didn't mesh with the style and soon switched to bluegrass.
Her talent for music was undeniable, and by the time she was eight she was competing in local talent competitions. Just two
years later, she had started her very own band. She kept winning numerous talent competitions, and when she was 13 the Society
for the Preservation of Bluegrass in America named her the "Most Promising Fiddler in the Midwest".
In 1985, Krauss
decided it was time to bring her talent into the recording studio, so she made her recording debut with her album Different
Strokes, which featured her brother Viktor. By the time she was 16, she had a recording contract with Rounder Records and
released her debut album, Too Late to Cry, with her backup band, Union Station. Before she was even 21 years old, Krauss already
had two Grammy Awards under her belt and an incredible fan base that expanded with each new record release. She has undoubtedly
become one of the most acclaimed and respected artists in music, and has also been credited with keeping bluegrass alive and
thriving. With 27 Grammy Awards to date, Krauss is currently the most awarded female singer in Grammy history—an incredible
title that she has definitely deserved. Her work in bluegrass has made her a musical legend, and every time she steps out
