The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater was originally led by none other than Alvin Ailey and a group of African American
modern dancers who first took stage March 1958 at the 92nd Street Young Men’s Hebrew Association in New York. Today
the artistic direction is led by Judith Jamison and has performed in over 71 countries to over 21 million people. Earning
a reputation as one of the most acclaimed international ambassadors of American cultures, the AAADT is one of the most prolific
African American cultural experiences ever.
Working as a traveling troupe for a half a century, the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is currently touring the nation
as it returns to New York, among others, this year with its acts that include “Blues Suite,” “Reflections
in D,” “Night Creature” and “Revelations.” In you’ve been a long time fan of this African
