Amanda Palmer is better known as half of the Dresden Doll duo, an indie-rock group that blends punk sensibilities with
the theatricality of Brechtian cabaret. But she’s a talented performer on her own, as well. Performing now without
her partner in crime, Brian Vigilone, she’s bringing her piano-driven singer/songwriter fare to venues across the country.

Palmer’s musical career started after college at Wesleyan University. Her first creative love was theater, and she
joined a collective called Shadowbox, often working as a “living statue” on street corners, as well as working
in productions of street theater. In 2000, she teamed up with drummer Brian Vigilone to form the Dresden Dolls, her first
musical project.
Amanda Palmer’s lyrics have been the subject of much debate during the Dresden Dolls career. They’ve released
several records in the past decade, and in 2008, Palmer herself set out to work on her own. Well, she wasn’t entirely
alone—singer/songwriter Ben Folds collaborated on her first solo release. But for fans of the Dresden Dolls, concert
tickets to see her perform solo are not to be missed.
