American Bank Center Arena History
American Bank Center Arena has been a Corpus Christi, Texas institution since
1967 and has been home to some of the most exciting events in the area for nearly fifty years. The arena is located right
next to the Convention Center which features a ballroom, twenty-one meeting rooms, and five exhibit halls. Also located nearby
the American Bank Center is the Selena Auditorium which is another popular venue in the area. American Bank Center serves
as the home of the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders basketball teams as well as the Corpus Christi Ice Rays of the NAHL
and the Corpus Christi Fury of the UIFL. There are plenty of great things happening at American Bank Center Arena and StubHub
is the place to go for tickets to all of them.

Arena really comes to life when the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders hit the floor to take on all of their biggest Southland
Conference rivals. Basketball is not the only sport taking place at the arena as it hosts Corpus Christi Ice Rays hockey games
along with indoor football games courtesy of the Corpus Christi Fury. Wrestling events are also a huge draw to the arena and
some of the most memorable moments in the WWE have occurred at American Bank Center Arena. Of course, there are also always
great concerts taking place at American Bank Center Arena with performances by the likes of Chicago, Backstreet Boys, and
Corpus Christi is located not far from Austin, Texas which is known as
The Live Music Capital of the World and there are countless venues to explore so that no matter what kind of music you prefer
there is sure to be live music to suit your taste being played on any given night. The city was named after Stephen F. Austin
who is considered the father of Texas. When visiting Austin be sure to check out Zilker Park which is a favorite tourist destination.
Zilker Park has made its presence in Austin since the early 1900s, when the land was first donated by Andrew Jackson Zilker.
The park includes hike and bike trails, and is included on the National Register of Historic Places. Perhaps best-known during
one weekend a year as host to the huge Austin City Limits Music Festival, Zilker Park also sells occasional sports tickets
and tickets to other events, as well.

Center Arena's biggest sports competitions there is seating for around 8,000 fans and the people of Corpus Christi know how
to bring the energy to a home game. Concerts hold up to 10,000 music fans and offer concert goers an unparalleled experience.
A 2007 WWE contest set for American Bank Center Arena was canceled after star wrestler Chris Benoit died
earlier that day. The arena cost more than 49 million dollars to build and has been renovated twice, in 2002 and 2004, to
bring it into the 21st Century.
