About American Idiot San Bernadino

Initially gaining success as a rock band in the 1990s, Green Day went on to become one of the best-selling rock groups of all time. They've sold over 75 million records worldwide, and they have won five Grammy Awards for Best Alternative Album, Best Rock Album, Record of The Year, another Best Rock Album, and Best Musical Show Album. After enjoying a hugely successful career as a rock band, Green Day has now explored their theatrical side with their award-winning musical, American Idiot. The show is based on their rock opera record of the same name, and follows the story of three young men, named Johnny, Will, and Tunny. This high-energy musicals portrays the restlessness and disillusionment that youths experience when coming of age. As such, the characters Johnny and Tunny embark on a trip to the city, where they hope to stir up excitement. Meanwhile, Will stays home in the suburbs with his pregnant girlfriend.

With a book written by Billie Joe Armstrong and director Michael Mayer leading the team, this musical was destined to become a huge success. In addition to all of the original American Idiot songs from the album, many new songs were created for the musical, including "21st Century Breakdown."

American Idiot made its premiere at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre, where it became the highest grossing show in the theater's history. The original cast included John Gallagher Jr. as Johnny, Matt Caplan as Tunny, Michael Esper as Will, and Tony Vincent as St. Jimmy. The musical then transferred to the St. James Theatre on Broadway on April 20, 2010. The Broadway creative team included Tom Kitt as Music Supervisor and orchestrator, director Michael Mayer, scenic design by Christine Jones, lighting design by Kevin Adams, costume design by Andrea Lauer, sound design by Brian Ronan, and Olivier Award winner Steven Hoggett for choreography. The Broadway production went on to win a number of awards, including a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Director of a Musical, Tony Awards for Best Scenic Design of a Musical and Best Lighting Design of a Musical, an Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Lighting Design, and a Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album.

American Idiot San Bernadino Breakthrough

Following in the wake of their success from the American Idiot album, rockers Green Day decided to embark on a new stage adaptation of their hit album. The musical was a phenomenal success. The success was also due in part by Billie Joe Armstrong himself appearing in the show. For several shows, he played to role of St. Jimmy, and ticket sales went up by 77%, with gross sales increasing by 127%. Following American Idiot's official opening on Broadway, the show won a number of awards and was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Musical and Outstanding Orchestrations, a Tony Award for Best Musical, and an Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding New Broadway Musical.
