Amos Lee Background

Born Ryan Anthony Massaro in Philadelphia, Amos Lee spent most his childhood split between Philadelphia and New Jersey. Throughout his childhood, Lee always loved music, but was never serious about pursuing it as a profession – at least at first. While attending University of South Carolina, however, Lee started to become more enthralled with the possibility of a career as a singer-songwriter, and eventually he dropped everything and pursued his dreams. After making some waves with his unique style of music, he eventually was hired to open for major artists like B.B King and Mose Allison.

From there, Lee's career exploded. He gained extensive recognition and praise for opening for Jones, and was later asked by various other artists (like Bob Dylan) to be one of their opening acts. In 2005, Rolling Stone named Lee among the "Top 10 Artists to Watch," and he started to appear on numerous talk shows, such as the Late Show with David Letterman and the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. His folksy and bluesy sound made him a hit among pop rock and jazz audiences, and his catchy lyrics earned him fans around the world. With an impressive discography and a habit of connecting with audiences from one show to the next, it simply doesn't get any better than seeing a highly anticipated Amos Lee concert.

Amos Lee Greatest Hits

Amos Lee has released five studio albums since breaking onto the scene in 2005: "Amos Lee" (2005), "Supply and Demand" (2006), "Last Days at the Lodge" (2008), "Mission Bell" (2011), and "Mountains of Sorrow, Rivers of Song" (2013). His most popular album, "Mission Bell," even peaked at number one of the U.S. music charts. A few of his most popular singles include "Flower," "Windows Are Rolled Down," "The Man Who Wants You," and "Chill in the Air." He also collaborated with the Zac Brown Band on "Day That I Die," a single that peaked at number 104 on the US Top 200 charts. With ties to Norah Jones as well, Amos Lee has gathered a considerable following his various collaborations and popular hits, making for all kinds of possibilities every time that he hits the stage looking to put on a big-time concert.

Amos Lee Trivia

Did you know that Amos Lee was once an elementary school teacher?

Before he decided to pursue a music career full-time, Lee was teaching second grade at Mary McLeod Bethune School in Philly. Eventually, though, Lee realized that his greatest talents were elsewhere, leading him to delve all the way into the music scene and quickly turn heads with his compositions and natural musical ability.
