Amos Lee Background

Born Ryan Anthony Massaro in Philadelphia, Amos Lee spent most his childhood split between Philadelphia and New Jersey. Throughout his childhood, Lee always loved music, but was never serious about pursuing it as a profession. While attending University of South Carolina, however, Lee started to become more enthralled with the possibility of a career as a singer-songwriter. He graduated with a degree in English and shortly after, decided to drop everything and pursue his love for music.

In order to support his dreams, Lee spent time waiting tables and bartending while writing music and performing whenever he had time off. He performed at numerous open mic events once he returned to Philadelphia, and thanks to his talent and his contacts with music promoters, he was eventually hired to open for major artists like B.B King and Mose Allison. Opening for such important artists proved to be a huge break for Lee, who was soon asked by Norah Jones to be an opening act for her 2004 tour.

From there, Lee's career exploded. He gained extensive recognition and praise for opening for Jones, and was later asked by various other artists (like Bob Dylan) to be one of their opening acts. In 2005, Rolling Stone named Lee among the "Top 10 Artists to Watch", and he started to appear on numerous talk shows, such as the Late Show with David Letterman and the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. His folksy and bluesy sound made him a hit among pop rock and jazz audiences, and his catchy lyrics earned him fans around the world.

When he isn't touring around the world and bringing his folksy-bluesy songs to excited fans everywhere, Lee spends most of his time in his hometown, Philadelphia, although he escapes to San Francisco some winter months. This talented singer-songwriter has wowed audiences around the world with his authenticity and raw music, and he continues to be a highly anticipated performer whenever he embarks on tour. So make sure you take advantage of this opportunity to see Amos Lee live in concert by heading to StubHub and buying your tickets today!
