The Anaheim Ducks were formerly known as the mighty Ducks of Anaheim, until the franchise changed its name in 2006. Originally owned by The Walt Disney Company, the Ducks have not been able to separate their name recognition with a movie called The Mighty Ducks, starring Emilio Estevez and a young Joshua Jackson. The Mighty Ducks of cinema were a losing youth hockey team of loveable losers who learn how to win from an ex-NHL player (Estevez) and learn how to be a team from each other. NHL tickets to see the real-life Ducks won't give you the same heartwarming feel of the movie, but they will surely leave you just as entertained.
The Ducks had one of their best seasons in 2002-'03, when they won 40 games in the regular season and went the Finals in the playoffs, only to lose to the New Jersey Devils in seven games. In '05-'06 the team recorded 43 wins, but still could not get a Stanley Cup. This year's team looks ready and eager to make it to the Finals again, but they'll have to survive the grueling regular season to get there.
