About Andrew McMahon

Andrew McMahon would spend his life growing up in different spots around the United States, from Massachusetts to California. After various family struggles including loss in the family and financial strain, Andrew found solitude in music, teaching himself the piano and laying the groundwork for his future meteoric music career that would make him a household name in the alternative music scene.

Hailing from a family of musicians, Andrew found inspiration from both his mother as well as his uncle, who passed away while he was still in childhood. A naturally gifted pianist, Andrew was playing piano masterfully by ear before ever learning to read and write conventional sheet music. He would find companions in high school that shared his love for music, forming a local high school band that would dominate the local music scene, including a win at a battle of the bands competition. Andrew's musical talent would soon be fully unleashed as the band broke up, and he was able to pursue a music career on his own.

After self recording his own debut album, Andrew formed the group Something Corporate with a group of close friends, and the group soon signed onto Drive Thru Records and released their nationwide debut. MCA Records heard their sound and soon picked up the band, which had at that point been an overnight phenomenon in alternative music circles across the world. Within months the band was on the road, touring all across North America and across the pond into Europe.

Andrew began recording under the moniker Jack's Mannequin, where he had saved up tracks he had written while with Something Corporate that didn't quite fit the band's musical style. He spent years recording and touring under the moniker Jack's Mannequin, before making the switch to using his full name in 2012. Though under a new name, Andrew's music is still as fresh and top notch as ever, cementing him as one of the great alt rockers of his generation.

Previous Hits

Andrew's big label debut came in 2014, after over a decade of performing with the group Something Corporate or under his alias Jack's Mannequin. Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness would further refine the sound of Jack's Mannequin, and became an overnight hit that propelled Andrew's new self titled project to the forefront of alternative rock overnight. Produced by the visionary Mike Viola, the album would spawn two and counting major singles, including "Cecilia and the Satellite" and "High Dive", both of which enjoyed widespread acclaim and airplay. Released under Vanguard Records, the album has signified a fresh new start for one of the hottest tickets on the alternative rock scene in the world today.

Andrew has branched out into other venues in the music industry, including as a writer on the hit NBC series Smash. Joshua Safran, showrunner for Smash, cited his fandom of McMahon's previous projects as inspiration for him signing on Andrew as a songwriter.
