As their name suggests, Animal Collective sometimes sounds like a carnival attended by strange beasts, whooping, hollering and combining sound in ways you couldn't have imagined. The band's members go by the pseudonyms Panda Bear, Avey Tare, Geologist and Deakin, which lends to their mystique. In person, however, they're just four guys who love to make music.
Animal Collective has been together since 2000, but their breakthrough came in 2004, when they released Sung Tongs. Since then, the indie outfit has been a smash hit on the indie music scene, selling out concert tickets to shows all over the country.
