The Aracade Theater's history begins in 1926, when it was built by Lester Norris, a cartoonist for the Chicago Tribune and a very wealthy individual. He wanted to build a destination for entertainment outside of Chicago, so that people in the suburbs didn't have to go all the way into the city. It was renowned for its architectural beauty and the many vaudeville shows it hosted.
In its early days, the Arcada Theater was known for hosting some of vaudeville's greatest performers. In a story that sadly would repeat itself all over the country, it eventually fell out of the public's attention for many decades. But in 2005, an effort was made to restore it, and now major stars perform on its stage. Get some Arcada Theater tickets and see them live!
