About Armin Van Buuren
Armin Van Buuren was born in the Netherlands, and was
raised in Koudekerk aan den Rijn. From this sleepy Dutch village, Van Buuren began exploring his musical interests and started
making music when he was about 14 years old. After graduating from Stedelijk Gymnasium Leiden, Van Buuren went on to study
law at Leiden University. At this time, he began spinning sets as a DJ in Club Next, and his music career began to gain momentum.
In fact, he had to put his law degree on hold for a short time to pursue his career, but he eventually resumed his education
and graduated in 2003.
In 1995 when Van Buuren was about 19 years old, he released the track "Blue Fear" under Cyber
Records, which charted in the UK. He followed up the release of "Blue Fear" with his successful hit "Communication," which
became a smash hit in Ibiza, Spain. Shortly after, Van Buuren was signed to AM PM Records, and the track hit the UK charts
at number 18. From there, his career took off, and he often remained a fixture in various "Top 100" lists for DJs.
2000, Van Buuren created his own compilation series, which seamlessly integrated commercial pop, minimal techno, and progressive
electro. The first album in the seriesA State of Tranceincludes a remix of Moogwai's "Viola," which became a fan favorite.
The second album in the series was calledBasic Instinct,and included the chart-topping hit "Perpetuous Dreamer – The
Sound of Goodbye," which entered the Dutch charts at number 26, and claimed the number 1 spot on the Hot Dance Music/Club

With a number of singles and remixes under his belt, Armin Van Buuren released his full-length studio album debut
in June 2003, titled76,named for the year of his birth. His sophomore albumShiversfollowed in 2005, and in 2008, his third
albumImagineentered the Dutch album chart at number 1. Van Buuren was the first dance music artist in Dutch music history
to enter the chart at the top, and the successful album included collaborations with Within Temptation's Sharon den Adel and
Jacqueline Govaert of Krezip.
AfterShiver's success, Van Buuren returned to the studio and released his fourth albumMiragein
2010, which debuted at number 3 on the Dutch charts and 148 on the U.S. Billboard 200. This album produced the single "Full
Focus," another fan favorite.
In addition to his assortment of successful albums and singles, Armin Van Buuren has also
been hosting a weekly radio show calledA State of Trancesince 2001. The popular show draws in over 30 million weekly listeners
from more than 40 counties, and features the famous "Year Mix," which includes custom mixes and mash-ups of the hottest songs
in the trance scene.
