About Asking Alexandria
Asking Alexandria would be the musical brainchild of musical genius
and master of the guitar Ben Bruce, while living in the Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. Bruce would make up the core of
the band, eventually releasing his initial bandmates and making the trek back to the United Kingdom to take a serious shot
at a career in music. While living in England, he would enlist the vocal and musical talents of Danny Worsnop, as well as
Sam Bettley, James Cassells, Joe Lancaster, and Cameron Liddel.
The new Asking Alexandria would hit the ground running,
hitting the studio with vaunted producer Joey Sturgis and recording their debut with Sumerian Records. They would immediately
climb the rungs of the metalcore rock world, lighting up the independent and hard rock charts and setting off on a nation
spanning tour that would put them right alongside major acts such as The Word Alive, Memphis May Fire, Evergreen Terrace,
and Alesana. With a diligent work ethic and an addictive debut, Asking Alexandria quickly became one of the most prominent
metalcore acts in the business, with a loyal and ever growing fanbase that spanned the world over.
By 2010, the band
would be big enough to headline their own national tour, hitting the road with the support of up and coming brother metal
bands From First to Last and We Came as Romans. Shortly after they would share the stage with Attack Attack! before heading
off for their first pan Euro tour, hitting all corners of the Isles and the Continent for a mind blowing tour that brought
their infectious sound to European ears for the first time in the band's history. To celebrate their growing success, the
band released their first live DVD Life Gone Wild, chronicling their time both on the road and in the recording studio.
Alexandria would be in the middle of the music spotlight by 2011, appearing in Australia's Soundwave Festival and rubbing
shoulders with celebrities from inside the music industry and out, including Charlie Sheen, Of Mice & Men, and Avenged
Sevenfold, acting as opening acts for the latter two in another set of cross country American tours. In the days since, Asking
Alexandria has remained at the forefront of the metalcore movement, with a constant stream of hit recordings and a nonstop
tour schedule with performances that constantly reshape the landscape of the modern metalcore scene.
The band's debut Stand Up and Scream would drop in 2009, flying on the Sumerian Records showing and simmering
on the medium end of the Billboard 200 at #170. The album would also climb to the #29 position on the US Indie charts, and
a respectable #36 on US Heatseekers. Under the production tutelage of Joey Sturgis, the album would receive a coveted nine
star rating from Ultimate Guitar, underscoring the musical foundations of the album, and spawned four hit singles: "Final
Episode (Let's Change the Channel", "A Prophecy", "If You Can't Ride Two Horses at Once… You Should Get Out of the Circus",
and "Not the American Average".
The band's follow up would build on two years of hype and simmering energy from their
debut. Titled Reckless & Relentless, the 2011 release would hit the #9 position on the Billboard 200 as well as #2 on
the US Hard Rock Albums chart. The band again worked with producer Joey Sturgis, and the high profile album would have praise
rained down upon by the critics at AllMusic, Revolver, Rocksound, and Ultimate Guitar. The album would be carried by the fan
favorite singles "Morte et Dabo", "Breathless", "Someone, Somewhere", "Closure", "To the Stage", and "Reckless & Relentless".
The band's newest work has been described as a comforting but fresh blast from the past, with various
critics reminiscing about similarities to legendary acts Slipknow and Motley Crue.
The band has tried their hand at
the video scene, making their own short film Through Sin + Self Destruction that would chronicle the life of rockstars in
the modern era. The film would drop in mid 2012.
