Avenged Sevenfold was formed in Huntington Beach, California, in 1999 by a group of high school students. Their sound, an aggressive mix of metal and pop-punk won them almost immediate recognition and they made their official debut in 2001 when they were around 18. They were discovered by Warner Brothers a few years later and released their first major-label record, City of Evil, in 2005 gaining a wider recognition.
