AWOLNATION Tour Schedule
Making a name for yourself in the overcrowded Los Angeles music scene is not an easy task
so one is led to assume that when a band comes bursting out of the scene into national prominence they must be something special.
In the case of electro/indie rock band AWOLNATION that assumption would be 100% correct. The band first gained notoriety for
their intense performances and genre blending sound while playing local shows, but now they have branched out and can be found
touring the country bringing their stunning live show to music lovers all over the U.S.
Sunday November 17th could well
prove to be a watershed day for AWOLNATION as they are performing at ACL Live at The Moody Theater. Being chose to be part
of any Austin City Limits show is an honor for a band no matter what style of music they perform and you can expect AWOLNATION
to bring even more intensity to their already stellar live show. If you are an AWOLNATION living anywhere near Austin, Texas
it would be well worth your time to make the trip to this show as it will be one of the band's biggest to date.
Aaron Bruno started AWOLNATION as a side project to make a different type of music than that of his other
bands Under the Influence of Giants, Hometown Hero and Insurgence. AWOLNATION has a more distinctly electronic influenced
sound while maintaining the driving hard rock influence prevalent in his other bands. The band's first EP Back from Earth
was released on iTunes in 2010 after Red Bull Records allowed Aaron Bruno to use their studios for free. After he recorded
some songs he signed to the label and the partnership remains solid to this day. AWOLNATION released their 15 song full length
debut in 2011 and while they have released a couple of EPs in the years since, that remains their lone full length album so
far. While working on the follow up the band has released two new songs one of which was featured in both Iron Man 3 and the
video game Injustice: Gods Among Us.
The 2011 debut full length Megalithic Symphony was well
received and produced three singles, Sail, Not Your Fault, and Kill Your Heroes. Sail was the biggest hit and reached number
10 on the Billboard Rock Charts as well as achieving platinum status in the U.S. and double platinum status in Canada. The
song was also featured in commercials for House, Under Armour, and Lumia, as well as in the television shows The Good Wife,
So You Think You Can Dance, and Longmire. Additionally, Sail was featured in the horror movie Playback and covered by Macy
Gray. Other songs from the album were featured on the television shows Sons of Anarchy, Vikings, Common Law, and Rookie Blue,
as well as the video game Saints Row 4. Clearly Megalithic Symphony had a big impact on pop culture even if many of the songs
did not receive significant airplay on radio stations across the country. One can only wonder what sort of impact the eventual
follow up album will have.
After waiting for months for this night to come and finally
as the lights lower you begin to see the ferocious AWOLNATION making their way out onto the stage. The crowd erupts in applause
as the band readies their instruments and prepare to belt out the first jam. A hush falls over the crowd as the band thanks
them and launches into a fan favorite like Sail, Thiskidsnotalright, Kill Your Heroes, or Not Your Fault. The crowd once again
erupts and sings and dances along to hits throughout the night. Aaron Bruno has a unique way of connecting with his fans no
matter which band he is performing with, and when he is performing as part of his own pet project AWOLNATION the connection
is even more intense. The high energy output from the band translates perfectly to the crowd and you spend the entire night
dancing and singing along.
The name AWOLNATION comes from a nickname Aaron Bruno acquired in high
school after friends dubbed him AWOL (absent without leave) because he would often just leave without saying goodbye. Aaron
Bruno is a talented multi-instrumentalist who plays guitar, synthesizers, piano, keyboards, drums, percussion, and bass. He
has been a part of several bands including Insurgents, UNder the Influence of Giants, and Hometown Hero, but now focuses all
of his creative energy on AWOLNATION. He wrote the hit song Sail with Kenny Carkeet, a former Hometown Hero bandmate. The
song debuted at number 30 on the U.S. Billboard Alternative Chart and went on to be featured in numerous commercials, television
shows, and movies. Keep an eye out for updates on tour news and record releases by AWOLNATION on StubHub because this is one
band all music lovers will want to follow.
