What genre does one file AWOLNATION under? The solo project from multi-instrumentalist Aaron Bruno was started as a way for him to continue experimenting with music that didn't fit in with the work of the other bands he was with, like Home Town Hero and Under the Influence of Giants. His debut record, Megalithic Symphony, includes a brash infusion of driving synths and indie-rock.
Who's gone AWOL? Aaron Bruno appears to be front and center in this act. The singer says he came up with the name because he had a habit of disappearing on people without saying goodbyes. This project has been compared to Beck in the way that it combines an eclectic mashup of genres in one place. But one thing is for sure - the band is exciting to listen to, and with previous tours opening for Weezer, concert tickets are sure to sell fast.
