In short time, he became a local, then national, and finally international sensation.
There are plenty of genres of music to mine in Senegal, but Baaba Mal was moved by Western -style music as well. That included jazz, R&B the blues. Combining all these influences, he began to create music that was a fusion of them, straddling the western world and the Senegalese music he grew up with. Now he's on tour, bringing his music to you!
