Baltimore Ravens Schedule in 2014

The Baltimore Ravens are ready to fly high in 2014 as they take to the field to do battle with some of the toughest teams in the National Football League. The Ravens missed out on the postseason last year, so they're more motivated than ever to reclaim a playoff spot in the AFC in 2014. The Ravens have a team brimming with talent, and they're hoping that such talent can take them to the top of their division. The Ravens play in the AFC North, a division that also features the Cincinnati Bengals, Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns. The Ravens have their sights on the division title, and they have the potential to make that happen if they can play well at home this season.

The Ravens surely have September 7th marked on their calendars, as it's not only the first home game of the season but also one against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals were able to win the AFC North last season and will be looking to repeat that feat. The Ravens know that they'll have to take down the Bengals id they're going to be taken seriously as a contender in the division in 2014, so what better way to kick things off this season? If the Ravens can slow down dynamic wide receiver AJ Green, then will be one step closer to defeating Cincy in this one. The Bengals also have good running back in Gio Bernard, who is capable of taking it to the house on any given play. This could be a huge victory of the Ravens if they get the job done on the field.

Baltimore will also be looking forward to December 28th. Not only is this the final home game of the regular season for the Ravens, but it could also be their first glimpse of Cleveland quarterback Johnny Manziel at M&T Bank Stadium. Manziel was one of the best players in college football over the course of the last two seasons, and the Browns nabbed him in the first round of the NFL Draft. There is a good chance the Johnny Football will be on the field for the Browns by this time of the year, and fans will pack the stands to see him in action against the Ravens.

Baltimore Ravens Team Info

The Baltimore Ravens are hungry to get back to the postseason, so this offseason the team focused on bringing in some new talent. The Ravens scored what many scouts called the best inside linebacker in the NFL Draft this year when they selected Alabama's CJ Mosley. Mosley should be able to come in right away and start for Baltimore, improving the team's defense, which is crucial if they're going to compete for the division crown in 2014. Safety was a big need heading into the draft, and the Ravens addressed that need in the third round when they landed Florida State product Terrence Brooks. Brooks has a good chance to be on the field as a starter come opening day, and he should help the Ravens avoid giving up some of the big plays they were prone to allowing last season. The team also selected quarterback Keith Wenning towards the end of the draft to develop into a potential backup for starter Joe Flacco.

The Experience

Unless you've been living under a rock, you'll know that one of the premier sporting events of the day is the NFL, though that's something that you'll have to see first-hand to truly appreciate. It's tempting to just sit at home and watch the game, or maybe even just catch the highlights on that fancy smart phone you have, but it's a completely different thing to feel the pulse of the crowd for all the crucial moments of a highly anticipated game. This is a sport that really springs to life when you get a chance to see it all alongside the rest of the energetic fans that complete the atmosphere, giving you a sporting experience that you simply can't duplicate no matter how good our technology gets.

Baltimore Ravens Trivia

Who was the starting quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens the first time they won the Super Bowl?

The answer is Trent Dilfer, who was tasked with managing the game and letting a solid running game and great defense do the work. Dilfer was a former top pick that never quite panned out the way many scouts expected him to, but his veteran savvy and ball protection were crucial for the Ravens winning the big game. Dilfer moved on from the team the following year, never playing as a full-time starter again. He is now an analyst for ESPN.

Baltimore Ravens History

Baltimore Raven tickets have been available since 1996, when the team moved to Baltimore from Cleveland. The Ravens replaced the Baltimore Colts, who had called Baltimore home for decades before bolting suddenly for Indianapolis. Even in their short time in their new home, the Ravens have established a tradition of winning and even won the Super Bowl after the 2000 season and again after the 2012 season. These days, the Ravens are known for having one of the most celebrated and consistently winning franchises in the NFL, making them nothing short of icons of the local sports scene despite not having the long-standing roots that some of the older franchises in the league have.

Baltimore Ravens Fans

The Ravens play their home games at M&T Bank Stadium, a place that is known for having energetic fans that know how to get out and show their support. Come out to the stands and you'll see how much better the live experience actually is, as the high-def TV experience pales in comparison. Sports around Baltimore can be a pretty big deal, and a home Ravens' game is known to be the crème de la crème for sports experiences. But even though home games are a must, you'll find plenty of Ravens gear on the road as well, as this is a fan base that knows how to travel in support of their team.
