Bass Performance Hall Fort Worth

Bass Performance Hall Fort Worth

History

The Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth, TX may not be a historic building, but it is one of the most treasured theaters in the country. It was built in the late 1990s, and has been the premiere location for some of the most spectacular classical and modern entertainment events in the past decade. It has also acted as a permanent home for the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, the Texas Ballet Theater, the Fort Worth Opera and the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. The performance hall was built as part of a massive revitalization of the downtown Fort Worth area, and has been called the crown jewel of the area.

The construction of the massive theater—which takes up an entire city block—was part of one of the biggest revitalization projects in the country. The large sculpted angels on either side of the entrance to the performance hall have become a symbol for a new day in downtown Fort Worth, and have become a cultural icon in the DFW area. And the facility isn't just beautiful on the outside. It features hand-painted ceilings and other specially-designed features. The concert hall isn't just beautiful, it is also functional. It is known for having great sightlines and crystal clear acoustics.

The mission of the facility is to expose local people to cultural experiences they might not have otherwise experienced. Today, the theater is again one of the shining jewels of the city, and brings performing arts fans face-to-face with some of the best artists and performers in the world.

Events Hosted

While many of the events presented at the beautiful Bass Performance Hall are entertaining and enchanting, there's nothing like the venue's holiday shows to brighten your Christmas season. Every medium is covered. From theater productions to Broadway musicals and symphony concerts to stunning ballet performances, this theater has it all. Whether you're in the mood to watch a grumpy green curmudgeon grow his heart three sizes too big in the Dr. Suess' How the Grinch Stole Christmas or you'd rather listen to the Southwestern Theological Seminary Master Chorale sing Handel's Messiah, you will find what you are looking for at the Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth, TX.

And don't forget to check out all of the other happenings at the concert hall during the rest of the year. There's nothing like seeing your favorite musical artist or talented classical musician do what they do best in one of the most beautiful venues in the country.

Home City

The iconic Bass Performance Hall is located in the north Texas town of Fort Worth. The city, nicknamed Cowtown, is the fifth largest city in its home state, and is known as the cultural gateway to the American Weest. The city was originally founded as an Army outpost overlooking the Trinity River. These old-world cowboys settled the area and were forever immortalized. Fort Worth still embraces its Western roots in style and tradition. Fort Worth has a lot to offer visitors to the city. Along with the cultural Mecca that is the Bass Performance Hall, visitors to the city might also enjoy a day wandering through the halls of the Kimbell Art Museum, see some live animals at the Fort Worth Stockyards or find out what happened to the dinosaurs at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History.

Fort Worth is a thriving city where modern conveniences and culture meet the historic feel of this iconic city. Within the same city limits there is a museum of natural history, a place to find a prairie dog town and one of the largest urban parks in the country known as the Fort Worth Botanic Garden. The city of Fort Worth always keeps you guessing and has a lot to offer tourists looking for a great time.

Seating Layout

The iconic Bass Performance Hall has the capacity to entertain more than 2,000 guests at the same time. There are several seating options for those who come to watch a Broadway show, a symphony performance or a famous ballet, and every seat in the house is a good one. The theater has three levels: the orchestra level, the mezzanine and the upper gallery. The Orchestra level has three sections to choose from and the mezzanine and upper gallery levels have just one section each.

And while the seats closest to the stage will get you a slightly better view of the performers on stage, the upper levels and the sections further back inside the theater give you breathtaking views of the intricate paintings that adorn the ceilings of the theater. And with heavy, luxurious fabrics both on your seat and on stage, you will get the royal experience with every show.

Trivia

The Bass Performance Hall may not be a historic venue, but it already has a long and storied history, and has been the site of many amazing entertainment experiences. And its beauty makes it one of the most enjoyable places to take in the wonderful cultural experiences the hall has to offer. It is designed in the European opera house form that includes an 80-foot Great Dome. This large ceiling makes for perfect acoustics for any entertainment event.
