Beats Antique Background
Beats Antique is comprised of David Satori, Zoe Jakes, and Tommy "Sidecar" Capel. Each
member of the trio brings some extra exciting flavor to the group, which is why they have achieved so much success as an experimental
group throughout the past several years. Satori, who played music throughout his childhood, attended the California Institute
of the Arts to study music performance and composition. Satori also played in numerous bands before Beats Antique formed.
He played in another experimental group called The Funnies while in college, later joining an afro-beat group called Aphrodesia
after moving to San Francisco. Zoe Jakes, on the other hand, always dreamed of pursuing a career in dancing, not music. This
lifelong dancer started belly dancing in 2000, and started touring with the Bellydance Superstars a few years later. Cappel.
Another talented musician living in the San Francisco area, was brought into the fold by Zoe Jakes, and the three started
to work on producing electronic dance music that featured inspirations of belly dancing and Middle Eastern sounds.
2007, Beats Antique released their debut album, Tribal Derivations, which was a concept album that was specifically created
for the Zoe's dance styles and inspirations. Their follow up album, Collide, became a smash hit in the Middle East, making
it into the top 10 of the most downloaded songs in the Middle East. Over the past several years, Beats Antique has traveled
