Ben Howard Background
Ben Howard was born in West London in 1987, and he was raised by two incredibly
musical parents, both of whom consistently encouraged him to pursue his passion for music. His parents had an impressive collection
of records from singer-songwriters like John Martyn, Van Morrison, Simon and Garfunkel, and Joni Mitchell, so these phenomenal
lyricists and singers were some of Howard's earliest musical inspirations. By the time he was 11 years old, Howard had become
so infatuated with music that he had picked up the guitar and had started penning his own songs. He also learned how to play
the contrabass and the drums, but his singer-songwriter vibe was best complemented by the guitar.
After high school,
Howard went to the University College Falmouth, Cornwall, where he pursued a degree in journalism. However, he decided not
to complete his studies in order to pursue his passion for music full-time. While Howard had already been writing and composing
his own songs for years at this point, he spent even more time creating phenomenal folk songs, so by the time he had signed
to a record label, Howard already had an impressive collection of songs at his side. Before signing to Island Records in 2011,
Howard self-released a few EPs and singles, including "Keep Your Head Up" and "The Fear". After snagging a record deal, however,
Ben Howard couldn't be stopped. He quickly became one of the dominating forces in indie folk music, and he started receiving
invitations to play at festivals like Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, Glastonbury, and Splendour in the Grass.
a few years, Howard had gone from a struggling, aspiring young singer-songwriter to one of the biggest names in folk music.
Now you have the chance to see him perform his hit songs live in concert thanks to StubHub!
Howard has released two studio albums, five EPs, and six singles in the last several years, quickly becoming one of the most
beloved artists in indie music. His debut album, Every Kingdom, went platinum in the UK and peaked at number 10 on the UK
Folk Music chart. Some of his most popular songs include hits like "The Wolves", "Keep Your Head Up", "The Fear", "Only Love",
and "I Forget Where We Were".
