Start a Fire with Berner
When it comes to Bay Area style music, Berner has got it down pat. As a San Francisco native,
Berner's music reflects the laid-back, chill lifestyle characteristic of the Bay, and it's a performance you don't want to
Rapper and member of Wiz Khalifa's Taylor Gang, Berner, is heading out on tour. Along with Devin
the Dude, Potluck and Cool Nutz, Berner's Buds and Suds Tour will be hitting 28 cities across the United States and up into
Canada, including Houston, New Orleans, Cleveland, Chicago, Seattle, Vancouver, San Francisco, Los Angeles and more. Check
StubHub today for your chance to get your hands on some Berner tickets.
Berner grew up immersed in
the Bay rap scene, grooving to B-Legit, San Quinn, Messy Marv, The Jacka and Yukmouth, and soon, he was spitting rhymes alongside
them as part of San Francisco's underground hip-hop scene. He brought out his first mixtape in 2007 (on his own independent
label), then followed it up with another nine albums in the next four years.
Berner had a string
of underground successes, with seven of his albums kicking up some dust on the Billboard Heatseekers chart - but the mainstream
didn't come calling until the massive track "Yoko," a 2011 track featuring guest appearances from three of Berner's friends,
who just happened to be three of the hottest names in the game, Wiz Khalifa, Chris Brown and Big K.R.I.T. Overnight, Berner
moved from a have-you-heard in underground rap circles to a mainstream success story.
Berner officially joined Taylor Gang, the Pittsburgh rap crew and record label founded by Khalifa. His next two albums, "Urban
Farmer" and "Drugstore Cowboy," were released on that label. Both featured appearances by Taylor Gang heavy-hitters like Juicy
J, LoLa Monroe and Chevy Woods. He also joined Khalifa as a featured performer on his popular tracks "Bluffin'" and "G.F.U."
His earlier albums are "Traffic" (2009), "Weekend at Bernie's" (2009), "Drought Season 2" (2009), "Blow"(2010), "Blow: Block
and Boat Docks" (2010) and "The White Album" (2011). His album "Traffic" hit No. 69 on the R&B Albums chart back in 2009.
It should come as no surprise that much of Berner's music are songs tailor-made for chilling and
hanging out. On albums and on stage, he's got a laid-back, easy-going style and delivery. His beats match his style, with
smooth, pop/soul-influenced melodies that feature high production values and a firm commitment to creating something chill.
A Berner concert is always a party because it's always a concert with friends. He rarely tours alone, but instead appears
as part of packed bills with a variety of performers. Berner tickets normally include at least a couple other Taylor Gang
members tagging along for the ride, and you know that one or two of them will join Berner on stage for a track or two. Who
knows -- there might even be a surprise guest appearance in there as well!
Berner grew up in San Francisco,
but moved to Arizona when he was 16. It was in Arizona that he learned to rap -- he bought an old karaoke machine from a classmate!
Berner also has his own label, Bern One, under which he released his first mixtapes. Berner is a budding entrepreneur, with
a hemp-infused water company called Hemp2o that sells itself on being all natural and great tasting. The alternative water
comes in different flavors, such as strawberry, grape and passion fruit.
