Big Daddy Kane was born Antonio Hardy in Brooklyn, New York. His stage name is adapted from the acronym “King Asiatic
Nobody’s Equal” and started writing for Biz Markie in the ‘80s before debuting some solo singles. His
debut album appeared around 1984, titled Long Live the Kane, followed by 1989’s It’s a Big Daddy Thing. Though
his albums failed to remain mainstream R&B/rapper successes over the years, his sex-driven image momentarily lingered when
he posed for Madonna’s 1992 photo book Sex and Playgirl magazine.
