It's that time of the year again, when the the top eight teams in the Big West Conference meet to determine who will represent the conference in the Big Dance. The automatic bid is on the line and the teams will definitely be bringing their A game to this single elimination tournament to determine the champion. Big West Basketball fans will flock by the thousands to the Honda Center in Anaheim, California to cheer their team on, and you won't want to miss a single game of this exciting tournament. Held at the Honda Center for the fourth consecutive year, the Big West Basketball Tournament is three days of can't miss excitement that the conference will be talking about until they crown a new champion in 2015. This year's event is from March 13-15, with all eight seeds playing their opening games on March 13. The following day, the action continues when the four winners play again to determine the final two teams standing. March 15 marks the Championship Game, where two teams will leave it all on the court as they vie for the coveted bid to the NCAA Basketball Tournament. With 2013's tournament champions, the Pacific Tigers, now a member of the West Coast Conference, a new champion will be cutting down the net in Anaheim, and all eight teams and their fans will be looking to be the last one standing. The Conference

College basketball is one of the most exciting sports to see live, especially when tournament time rolls around. The win or go home atmosphere is unmatched and fans are always an important factor to deciding the champion. The Big West Conference is a mid major conference comprised of nine teams from California and Hawaii. The schools that make up the Big West Conference are California Polytechnic State University, or Cal Poly, California State University, Fullerton, California State University, Northridge, California State University, Long Beach, the University of California, Riverside, theUniversity of California, Davis, theUniversity of California, Irvine, University of California, Santa Barbara, and the University of Hawaii. The University of Pacific left the Big West Conference after the 2013 season, when it joined the powerful West Coast Conference, where they square off against teams like Gonzaga, BYU and Saint Mary's College. The Big West Conference has changed a lot over the years, with many former members leaving as well, with many moving on to the Mountain West Conference like San Diego State, San Jose State and Boise State. The Big West Conference is strong in many sports including baseball and volleyball and their basketball programs improve every year. Big West Tournament History

Sports fans all over the world count the days until March Madness begins, but before the seeding is determined and brackets are set, the teams must compete in their conference tournaments. At stake is the coveted automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, which is the only way to ensure that your ticket is punched. Any team that catches fire at the right time can make it, so the top seeds better be ready because there is a bullseye on their backs. In the Big West Conference, the top eight teams make the tournament, which has seen the former Big West member, the University of Pacific, as its most recent champion, even though Long Beach State was the regular season champion. The University of Nevada, Las Vegas, who is now a member of the Mountain West Conference, holds the lead for most Big West Conference Tournaments won, with seven.


Big West Tournament Trivia

The two teams with the most wins in the Big West Conference Tournament, UNLV and Utah State, are no longer members of the Big West. Which of the nine current members has won the most Big West Conference Tournaments?

The Long Beach State 49ers have won five conference tournaments, including their most recent in 2012, when they defeated the UC Santa Barbara, who had won the two previous tournaments. The 49ers went on to win their opening round game in the NCAA Tournament before losing in the second round to New Mexico.
