The famed country music artist Billy Currington was born in Savannah, Georgia and raised in Rincon, Georgia. He grew up with four sisters and two brothers. At the early age of one and a half, his mother married a man by the name of Larry Carrington. It is thought that the relationship Billy Currington had with his stepfather laid the foundation for a number of his songs. The first song that Billy Currington released was Walk a Little Straighter, which was based on his stepfather's alcoholism. The song even includes a chorus that Billy Carrington wrote when he was an adolescent boy. Billy Currington had what some consider a challenging childhood, but has found within himself the ability to rise above the early troubles to become one of the most significant names in country music today. He has hit many of the Top charts for country music and is a household name. Billy Currington has had a career that has publicly gone up and down. He often does his part to support philanthropic endeavors and founded the Global South Relief Foundation. The Foundation aims to provide support to Central American Countries. When he moved to Nashville, Tennessee during his youth, he worked hard to stay at the top of his game and maintain his status as a popular country musician.
