Biz Markie, born Marcel Theo Hall, is a rapper, DJ and comedian who gained his claim to fame with the single “Just a Friend.” Markie was involved in the first ever lawsuit regarding sampling, which ruled that artists but clear sampling use with the original before using them. He has released several albums over the years, and more recently has opened for Chris Rock’s No Apologies tour.
