The Black Crowes are a southern hard rock group that formed in Georgia by the Robinson brothers.
Although the lineup has changed over the years, the Robinsons have continued to be the foundation and the back bone to the
group. With Chris Robinson on vocals and Rich Robinson on guitar, there's no shortage of amazing talent and charismatic stage
presence. The band has been around since the early 1980s, but didn't get national recognition until the release of their hit
album, The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion. A lot has changed since the early days, but they still know how to rock
a stage as well as any other rock band around.
They are currently on tour with the Tedeschi Trucks Band, and are performing
all over the country. Fans still can't seem to get enough of them, and tickets are going fast. They will be making stops in
Los Angeles, Portland, Seattle, Las Vegas and many other musical hot spots.
Even though the band
took a break from writing and performing together during the early part of the 2000s, the band members weren't sitting around
waiting for a reunion. They continued to write, record and perform both as solo artists and with other bands. Lead vocalist
Chris Robinson released two solo albums, entitled New Earth Mud and This Significant Distance. His brother Rich formed the
band Hookah Brown that fizzled quickly. But he didn't let them stop him from making music. He released a solo album entitled
Paper in 2004. During their second hiatus brought about special edition Black Crowes compilation albums and special edition
Record Store Day Black Friday 10" vinyl picture disc called Say Goodnight to the Bad Guys/Remedy.
About the Artist
Black Crowes first formed in the early 1980s, under the name Mr. Crowe's Garden. The name paid homage to a children's book
called Johnny Crow's Garden. The band was formed in Atlanta and was influenced heavily by local artists like R.E.M. and psychedelic
pop and southern rock. Their sound evolved over time and became more of a blues-rock style. Although the band has seen many
lineup changes throughout the years, the back bone of the group has always been Chris and Rich Robinson. In 1989, the group
made their first demo, drawing inspiration from groups like The Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd and artists like Otis Redding.
Their first album was released in 1990 and spawned several successful singles, including "Hard to Handle," "She Talks to Angels"
and "Jealous Angels." Two of their singles, which were covers of Otis Redding hits, helped them achieve top 30 spots on the
Billboard Hot 100. They began to gain recognition and were soon asked to open for ZZ Top on their 1991 tour.
year, the band headlined their own tour in the Soviet Union and opened for Motley Crue and Queensryche and many others. They
released their second album, The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion in 1992, which hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The
album spawned hits like "Remedy," "Sting Me" and "Thorn in My Pride." The album set them apart from other bands in their genre,
making them instant rock stars. Despite a hiatus or two, the band has continued to be successful, gaining fans wherever they
go. And while they were finding themselves apart from the band, the members continued to perform and play together, keeping
their bond strong.
They have released nine albums, and continue to tour and perform. They are currently on tour with
the Tedeschi Trucks Band and have found a new generation of fans who are anxiously awaiting their next big performance.
After forming in the early 1980s, the band spent many years trying to break into the
business. Because of their relentless performance schedule and recording time, the band had a large following of devoted fans.
But, before 1992, the band wasn't known on a national level. But with the release of their second album, The Southern Harmony
and Musical Companion, the band became an international sensation. Their album went to the top of the charts, and the Black
Crowes were suddenly on the lips of music fans and critics alike. Since then, the band has found their niche, and continues
to be successful in the rock and roll world. They have claimed countless awards and accolades, and have topped the charts
in dozens of countries around the globe.
While their hair might be slightly less coiffed
and their clothes are a little less grunge, their songs still stir the soul and rock the house when they take the stage. The
seasoned musicians know how to play to the crowd and put on a great show for their devoted fans. With the angelic voices of
harmonizing backup singers, the wail of a great guitar and the sweet and spicy vocals of lead vocalist Chris Robinson, the
band creates a show that will have you waving your arms and singing along to your favorite tunes.
