PGA Tour FedEx Cup
The long and storied history of the PGA Tour dates all the way back to 1929,
although it was not until 1968, after a dispute over the division of ever increasing revenue as a result of television contracts,
that it split from the PGA to deal only with tour players instead of additionally working as an organization for club professionals.
The FedEx Cup is awarded to the winner of the PGA Tour each year and is given out at the end of the playoffs. The playoffs
consist of four events: The Barclays which has the top 125 pints leaders competing, then the Deutsche Bank Championship in
which the field is then whittle down to the top 100 points leaders, followed by the BMW Championship which features the top
70 points leaders, and finally the Tour Championship which is the final leg and features the top 30 points leaders. This is
the most exciting time of the year for professional golf and all of the golfers involved are looking to bring their A game.
The BMW Championship was first held in 2007 when Tiger Woods won the event, he would later win again in
2009 and to date is the only golfer to win the tournament more than once.
