Bobby Dodd Stadium History
Bobby Dodd Stadium, named for the Georgia Tech coach who has had the most wins in the
school's history, is the oldest stadium in the Division I Football Bowl Subdivision. It began as a grassy field in the early
1900s, surrounded by a steep hill where fans would gather during game nights, avoiding increment weather under a giant pavilion.
Before massive renovations in the 1930s, the stadium was affectionately called the "Ramblin' Wreck." Today, the stadium is
far from a wreck. It is a state-of-the-art facility that has been the site of more home wins than any other FBS stadium. With
a nod to its rich history and a plethora of modern conveniences, this stadium is a football fans dream come true. In the late
2000s, the stadium underwent massive renovations that helped cement the stadium's status as one of the most popular college
football facilities in the nation. Bobby Dodd has been the site for more than one nail-biting conference championship game
including three conference titles in 1922, 127 and 1928. There's never a dull moment when you come out to this historic stadium,
and you won't want to miss a single moment of the action when your favorite team defeats their conference rival or their toughest
opponent on the gridiron.
