The Boston Beanpot tournament has been around for more than 60 years, and the rivalries are still as intense as they were
that first year the teams took the ice. The four-team tournament was originally meant as filler to help the arena make money
during off nights. But now, more than six decades later, the tournament has become much more. The first game was played in
Boston Arena (now Matthews Arena) in December of 1952, and was later moved to Boston Garden. The tournament is played on the
first two Monday in February, which wasn't adopted until the ninth year. While it has always been a memorable for fans, the
Beanpot became part of Boston sports lore when several hundred fans were stuck in the Garden for several days when the Blizzard
of 1978 dumped more than two feet of snow on the area. The final two teams didn't have a chance to play the championship game
until March 1. While this year's tournament may not feature a snowed-in crowd, it will still be one of the most exciting and
