Boston Celtics Schedule in 2014-15

The Boston Celtics are ready to take to the court this season to try and take down some of the best teams in the National Basketball Association. The Celtics have a young team that is looking to show the rest of the Eastern Conference that they're on the rise and should not be taken lightly. Boston is coming off a tough season in the first year of a rebuilding project, but while the win total was modest there was progress made. Head coach Brad Stevens looks like a great fit for developing the youngsters on this roster, and the Celtics should be on their way up in 2014-15. The team will have to take on some tough opponents at home on a regular basis, which is why they need their home crowd behind them at the TD Garden.

The Celtics will surely be looking forward to hosting the New York Knicks, as they always are. The Knicks had a disappointing 2013-14 season, but were able to re-sign Carmelo Anthony this offseason and make a trade that landed them point guard Jose Calderon. With head coach Derek Fisher in place and general manager Phil Jackson pulling the strings in the front office, some expect the Knicks to have a bounce back season. The Celtics always love beating the Knicks, and they'll look to do just that whenever New York comes to town this season.

Another Atlantic Division rival that could give the Celtics some tough games is the Toronto Raptors. The Raptors were able to make the postseason last year thanks to a great second half of the season. The team brought back point guard Kyle Lowry this season, and seeing rookie Marcus Smart try to defend him should be great entertainment for basketball fans. The Celtics would love to get some victories against this solid Toronto squad, which would go a long way in signaling to the rest of the Eastern Conference that this Boston team means business.

Boston Celtics Team Info

The Boston Celtics are looking to continue to build from the ground up as they eye a return to the upper echelon of the East Conference. When the team moved Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce last offseason it signaled that the rebuild was on, and Celtics general manager has succeeded in stocking this team with young assets. The Celtics had the sixth overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft and used it to select hard-nosed Oklahoma State guard Marcus Smart. Smart may not be a pure point guard, but he is capable of playing and defending both guard positions. He is a tenacious on-ball defender with good instructs and leaderships qualities. The Celtics certainly view him as a building block for the franchise, and he should see a lot of run on the court in 2014-15. The Celtics also made sure to re-sign defensive maven Avery Bradley, who is one of the best perimeter defenders in the entire NBA. Boston also landed guard Marcus Thornton in a trade, which gives the team plenty of backcourt depth along with point guard Rajon Rondo, and also brought in center Tyler Zeller. There are rumors that the Celtics are trying to get their hands on Minnesota star forward Kevin Love via trade, and they have many attractive assets in house, but that is no certainty. The C's will look to develop the young talent on this team like Smart, Jared Sullinger and Kelly Olynyk. The team should be able to take some steps in the right direction in 2014-15.
