Bramlage Coliseum

Bramlage Coliseum History

Back in the mid-1980s, it looked like Kansas State needed a top-tier venue for their hometown Wildcats, as this is a team that frequently has some of the very best players in the nation and are in and out of title talks all of the time. The good people of Manhattan, Kansas came up with Bramlage Coliseum, which has become a major staple of the local scene ever since it opened back in 1988. Over the years, fans have gotten to watch the Kansas State program grow into an absolute powerhouse, making it simply the place to be throughout the year as the Wildcats look do their thing on the hardwood.

But Bramlage Coliseum is definitely more than just about being the perfect place for a sporting event, as it's been the home to some amazing concert and speaking events over the years. Def Leppard, Bob Dylan and Van Halen are just a few of the legendary rock bands that have come to Bramlage Coliseum, and you never know who is going to show up. Bramlage has also hosted plenty of world famous speakers, including U.S. presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Jimmy Carter as well as presidential nominee Ross Perot and other U.S. icons like Janet Reno, Jesse Jackson and Henry Kissinger. If you've never been out to see a big event at Bramlage, clearly it's time to change that.

Bramlage Coliseum Hall Events Hosted

One look at the schedule of the Bramlage Coliseum seems like a who's who of the college basketball world, as this is a venue that is always in the middle of one amazing show or another. You could also catch a show like AC/DC, Ben Fold or a comedian like Will Ferrell, giving you plenty of options if you're looking for a night out on the town in Manhattan, Kansas. Mostly, though, this is a haven for college basketball, as it routinely houses some of the very best college basketball games on the calendar each and every year. The Kansas State Wildcats tend to be near the top of the conference standings, making each and every one of their games a highly anticipated event around Manhattan.

Manhattan, Kansas

We all know that Manhattan, New York is one of the icons of the country, but so too is Manhattan, Kansas, one of the jewels of the Midwest. This is an arena that routinely houses an unbelievable college of big basketball games and cultural events, making it simply the place to be if you're anywhere near town. Manhattan, Kansas is noted for its small town feel, though it will feel much bigger once you're there with thousands of your fellow fans and you're cheering for your Kansas State Wildcats.

Nicknamed Little Big Apple, Manhattan, Kansas is also noted for being an All-American City, which it was named in the 1950s, and is also one of the very best places in the country for small business according to some financial outfit named Forbes. Add it all together and it's a pretty big deal, making this place a great combination of the tradition of the old with the future of tomorrow. And it still doesn't get any better than being there for a big game that is the buzz of Manhattan before and afterwards.

Bramlage Coliseum Seating Layout

Whether you're on the right, left or somewhere in the center, you're bound to get a great show. No, we're not talking about governmental impasses and political theater; we're talking about the elegant seating arrangement of the Bramlage Coliseum. There isn't a bad seat in the house, which is something that you really won't understand until you actually make it out to see it for yourself. Once you're there watching your favorite team, the last thing you'll be thinking about is your seat, however, as you'll be jumping out of it all too often from one bucket to the next as the Wildcats brings the house down.

Bramlage Coliseum Trivia

Did you know that Bramlage Coliseum was actually named after the famous Ancient Roman Coliseum? OK, this one is a bit of a gimme. Looking to capture the intensity and excitement of the original Coliseum (minus the gladiatorial fights), Bramlage Coliseum was named because everyone knew it was going to become an icon of the local community as soon as it broke ground back in 1986 and opened in 1988. Though things are obviously a bit different since the Ancient Roman days, the spectator sport has never been more popular, and it doesn't get any better than being in the stands with tens of thousands of your fellow fans for a big college basketball team – particularly when it's the Kansas State Wildcats that are taking to the hardwood. Brimlage Coliseum is bound to give you an experience that you'll be talking about long after the final whistle, giving you plenty of reasons to get out and see it all for yourself.
