Brian Culbertson Background

Brian Culbertson started honing his musical skills at a young age, picking up the piano when he was eight years old, then later moving on to learn the drums, bass, euphonium, and trombone. With so many instruments in his musical toolbox by the time he was a teenager, Culbertson was already well on his way to becoming a world-class musician. He had numerous musical inspirations while growing up, including Sting, Chicago, Earth Wind and Fire, David Foster, and George Duke. After graduating from high school, Culbertson moved to Chicago to attend DePaul University. While in college, Culbertson decided that it was time to start working on his first CD, so he composed and recorded a set of songs and sent it off to the only person he knew living in Los Angeles. Bud Harner, Culbertson's LA contact, received the CD and immediately got to work on scoring Culbertson a record deal.

Once he secured a record deal with Mesa/Blue Moon, Culbertson started recording his debut album in his college apartment. The album, Long Night Out, soared to the top of the Adult Contemporary music chart and stayed there for a solid five weeks. Just like that, Culbertson went from recording songs in his bedroom to being one of the most exciting new artists in his genre, and he started cranking out one hit record after another. In addition to writing and composing his own incredible songs, Culbertson has composed and arranged songs for some of the biggest artists in music history, such as Brian McKnight, Chris Botti, Peter White, Faith Evans, Avant, Richard Elliot, Vivian Green, and many more.

There are few jazz artists as widely popular as Brian Culbertson, and his extreme popularity is largely due to his unique style of jazz that also incorporates elements of funk and R&B. His style of "urban jazz" has made Culbertson a music icon over the past couple of decades, and now you have the chance to see this superstar perform live in concert!
