About the Artist

Brian McKnight got started on his path to musical stardom early on when he became a member of his church choir and the leader of his high school band in Buffalo, New York. Brian's older brother Claude was in a band called Take 6 which was signed to Warner Brothers Records and Brian began sending out demos to get a record contract of his own. Soon he was signed to Mercury Records at the age of 19 and released his self-titled debut album in 1992 and was well on his way to becoming one of the biggest superstars in R&B. He has since gone on to release twelve studio albums: Brian McKnight, I Remember You, Anytime, Bethlehem, Back at One, Superhero, U Turn, Gemini, Ten Evolution of a Man, Just Me, and 2013's More Than Words. He continues to tour and record hits and remains a true heavyweight in the genre well after his Nineties heyday. Even to this day Brian McKnight is one of the most powerful singers you could hope to see live and a performer whose concerts you do not want to miss.

Breakthrough

Brian McKnight's self-titled debut featured the top twenty single One Last Cry and definitely got the attention of R&B lovers who have stuck with him for the following decades. However, it was not until his third release, 1997's Anytime that Brian McKnight achieved the cross-over success that would make him a household name. The album would go on to sell more than two million albums and be nominated for a Grammy while the video for the album's single of the same name was also nominated for Best Male Video at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The Experience

Inside a packed house, the lights dim and legendary R&B singer Brian McKnight makes his way onto the stage. The crowd erupts as he makes his way to the center of the stage and the microphone stand. He cues the band and they play the opening notes to a hit jam from one of his albums like Brian McKnight, I Remember You, Anytime, Bethlehem, Back at One, Superhero, U Turn, Gemini, Ten Evolution of a Man, Just Me, or More Than Words. As the night goes on the hits keep coming and you and your friends are dancing and singing along to song after song. He may even sprinkle in some gospel standards or some new songs if you catch him on the right night. Always known to have an incredible stage presence and a heavenly voice, Brian McKnight really knows how to connect with his fans no matter how big or small the venue in which he is performing. He is one R&B performer any music lover will not want to miss when he comes to town.

Trivia

Brian McKnight's duet with Vanessa Williams, Love Is, hit number 3 on the Billboard charts and really helped establish McKnight as a crossover hit, especially after the song was featured on an episode of Beverly Hills 90210 during the peak of the show's popularity. Brian McKnight hosted a radio show, The Brian McKnight Show, on KTWV the Wave in Los Angeles from 2006 to 2010 which was also simulcast on Smooth Jazz 95.7 The Wave in Houston. He has sung the National Anthem for several baseball games including Opening Day in Cincinnati with his two sons, All Star Games, and even the World Series in Anaheim.
