Bacharach served in the Army, and then came back and played the piano as accompaniment to singers like Vic Damone, Steve Lawrence, Polly Bergen, Paula Stewart, and the Ames Brothers.

In 1957, Bacharach started working with Hal David, forming one of the most successful writing partnerships of all time. One year later, they hit great success into their song, "The Story of My Life", which was recorded by Marty Robbins. The song became the number one hit on the US country music chart and landed at number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100. Throughout the Sixties, Bacharach and David wrote hundreds of songs together, many of which were recorded by the incredible vocalist Dionne Warwick.
