Each year, college football fans flock to see the Capital One Bowl, and for good reason. The Capital One Bowl always brings
top competition. For the 2011 Capital One Game, it was a matchup between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Michigan State Spartans,
with the Crimson Tide taking home the win. The 2011 Capital One Bowl will have even more action.
The name of the Capital One Bowl has changed multiple times in its history. It began as the Tangerine Bowl and then changed
to the Florida Citrus Bowl. From there, it became the Comp USA Florida Citrus Bowl, later the Ourhouse.com Florida Citrus
Bowl. It took on its current name in 2001. Through all the name changes, the Capital One Bowl has remained one of the best
in NCAA football.
The Capital One Bowl takes place in the Florida
Citrus Bowl, which has been an important part of the Orlando landscape for decades. When the Citrus Bowl was first built
in 1936, it featured a capacity of 10,000. Since then, it has been renovated multiple times, increasing the capacity to 70,000.
In addition to the Capital One Bowl, the Citrus Bowl hosts many other athletic events.
Fans who reserve sports tickets to the Capital
One Bowl also get to experience one of the bowl's unique traditions. For the past several years, a mascot competition has
coincided with the Capital One Bowl. To win Mascot of the Year, fans vote for their favorite mascot, and the mascots have
to "play" head to head in the weeks leading up to the bowl to determine a winner.
