Set in 1931 Berlin as the Nazis are rising to power, Cabaret focuses on the nightlife scene at the seedy Kit Kat Klub.
The story follows 19-year-old English cabaret performer Sally Bowles as she developed a relationship with a young American
writer named Cliff Bradshaw. The young lovers, find themselves in a difficult situation, because of German boarding house
owner Fräulein Schneider and her elderly suitor Herr Schultz, a Jewish fruit vendor. Overseeing the action is the Master of
Ceremonies at the Kit Kat Klub which serves as a constant metaphor for the tenuous and threatening state of late Weimar Germany

After 21 previews, in 1966, the original Broadway production of Cabaret opened at the Broadhurst Theatre, where it was
directed by Harold Prince and choreographed by Ron Field. Two years later, the first West End production opened in 1968 at
the Palace Theatre starring Judi Dench as Sally, Barry Dennen as the Emcee, Lila Kedrova as Fräulein Schneider and Peter Sallis
as Herr Schultz. Over the next four decades, Cabaret continued to enjoy successful Broadway and London Revivals, evening earning
several Tony Awards and countless other honors along the way. It wasn't long before Cabaret caught the interest of the world
