The Camp Randall Stadium was built in 1917, and is distinguished by its double-deck structure. The opening game at the stadium was on November 3, 1917. The history of the stadium actually dates back to before the Civil War, when the site was owned by the Wisconsin Agricultural Society, and was the home of the annual state fair. During the war the grounds were given the government, to be used for training soldiers.
