Candlestick Park History

Candlestick Park is the iconic San Francisco, California stadium that has served as the home of both the San Francisco Giants of Major League Baseball and the San Francisco 49ers of the NFL. The Giants moved to AT&T Park in 2000 and the 49ers moved to Levi's Stadium prior to the 2014 NFL season. While those two teams were in the stadium, Candlestick Park hosted several important NFL games including the NFC Championship Game, along with key baseball games including the World Series and the MLB All-Star Game. Despite the Giants and 49ers moving on, there is still plenty going on at Candlestick Park throughout the year, giving you plenty of reasons to get tickets for great events at the stadium from StubHub today.

Trivia

On August 29, 1966 the Beatles played their final full concert at Candlestick Park to a sold out, enthusiastic crowd. One of the most memorable moments in the history of Major League Baseball occurred at Candlestick when in 1989 the 7.1 magnitude Loma Prieta earthquake struck just minutes before the start of the World Series game between the San Francisco Giants and the Oakland A's. The game was postponed for ten days and much credit was given to the design of Candlestick Stadium for the fact that miraculously no one inside the stadium was injured.
