College football is already great, but it gets taken to a completely different level during the bowl season, one of the best times of the year if you're a sports fan. There is nothing quite like the atmosphere of a big college bowl game, particularly when it's the Capital One Bowl that goes down annually at Citrus Bowl in Orlando. Though all of the bowl games are great, this is the Capital One Bowl – one of the most anticipated football games in the country each and every season. As soon as you're there watching a great game alongside thousands of your fellow fans, you'll be glad that you're not sitting anywhere else, as the atmosphere is sure to be nothing short of electric.

Ever since it first got rolling in 1935, the Capital One Bowl has been bringing together some of the best teams in college football to conclude the season on a high note. The Capital One Bowl certainly qualifies as one of the very best games of the year, making this a matchup you don't to skip if you're looking for a gridiron thrill in the Orlando area and are hoping to see some of the most talented players in college football. Come out to this one and you're bound to see a game absolutely packed to the brim with players that are likely headed to the next level, which means anything can happen once this kicks off.

The NCAA Football Experience

Imagine that the game is on the line and your favorite team is digging in looking to pull down a big win. Sure, you could see a glimpse of the big game from your living room, but it's a different experience altogether to actually be there to see all of the action unfold. With a field filled with talented playmakers, you'll be treated to a top-tier sporting event that will be unlike anything else, so don't wait too long to start making your plans to join in the excitement in another hard-hitting season of action.

The Teams

Bringing together talented programs from both the Big 10 and the SEC each and every year, one thing you're guaranteed to see is plenty of amazing athletes headed for the next level, as this is a game that routinely draws powerhouses to the gridiron down in Orlando. The Capital One Bowl is just one of those games that tends to have plenty of star power, which is why it's always the place to be if you're looking to see a great bowl game loaded with twists, turns and nail-biting moments that you'll be talking about long after it's all over. There's a reason why this is a game that is so well-followed around college sports, and it definitely isn't because there is a lack of heart-pounding excitement from year to year. Once you're there soaking up the vibes of a big game featuring some of the most electrifying playmakers in the sport, you'll be glad that you're not sitting anywhere else.

Capital One Bowl Trivia

Did you know that Peyton Manning once won the MVP at the Capital One Bowl?

It's really just another feather in Manning's cap, but the MVP of the Capital One Bowl is still a very big deal. Back in 1997, Manning lit up yet another defensive, only this time it was Northwestern that got the short end of the stick. Manning helped guide Tennessee to yet another big win before heading out to the NFL, giving college football fans one more amazing thrill before heading out to become a legend in the NFL as well.

Capital One Bowl History

The Capital One Bowl takes place in the Florida Citrus Bowl, which has been an important part of the Orlando area for decades. When the Citrus Bowl was first built in 1936, it featured a capacity of 10,000 but now has a capacity of 70,000, providing the perfect backdrop for one of the biggest games of the college football season. The Capital One Bowl, though called different names over the years, has been around since all the way back in 1946, when Catawba went on to win its first of two straight bowl games. Not only did Catawba win but they also put together back-to-back shutouts, beating Maryville and Marshall in the process.
