        The opera Cardillac, by Paul Hindemith, brings a fairly horrific premise to life on stage. It was originally a short story by E.T.A. Hoffman, then was adapted for the stage in 1926. Since then, it has impressed critics and opera fans looking for some thrills in their entertainment. The work explores the psychology of a fanatical goldsmith so in love with his creations that he can't bear to part with them. In fact, he'll stop at nothing to get them back, even after you've paid for them.
