Fairbanks, Alaska is famous for a few things, one of which being the gold rush in the mid nineteenth century, and the other
being the annual college basketball tournament known as the Top of the World Tournament. Every year the Top of the World takes
place at Fairbanks 's Carlson Center. If you would like to get Carlson Center tickets
for this event, you can do so right here.
The Carlson Center is located on the campus of the University of Alaska Fairbanks. It was opened in 1990, built as a permanent
home for the Nanooks hockey program. The name Carlson Center comes from John A. Carlson, a former mayor of Fairbanks. The
Carlson Center seating chart is available for you to view. It is capable of seating
5,703 at max capacity for basketball games but about 1,000 fewer for hockey.
The Carlson Center is the home of the University of Alaska Fairbanks ice hockey team, known as the Nanooks. The Nanooks
play Division-I NCAA hockey in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. Their inter-conference rivals include some pretty
good hockey programs, such as the University of Michigan Wolverines, the Michigan State Spartans, the Notre Dame Fighting
Irish, and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
