        Over the years, only a few musicals have been able to stand the test of time to truly be called classics. One such musical is Carousel. Carousel comes from the famed Broadway theater duo Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. They tale come from another classic play, but the musical version gives it new life and brings the story to a whole new audience.

        Carousel follows the love story of two young people during the 1870s, a mill worker named Julie and carousel barker named Billy. They lose their jobs before marrying, and Billy becomes violent with Julie, although her devotion to him is unwavering. When she reveals she is pregnant, Billy takes drastic measures, which has dire consequences for him, Julie and their unborn child.
