Born in 1978 to famed Texan singer-songwriter David Rodriguez and painter Katy Nail, Carrie Rodriguez showed signs of her immense talent very early in life. She picked up the fiddle at age five and hasn't stopped playing since! Her foray into the professional music world began when she was granted a music scholarship to Oberlin Conservatory as a teenager. After a year of study, she progressed onto Berklee College of music where she was trained by world-renowned fiddler Matt Glaser. After Carrie Rodriguez spent years playing intimate indie venues around Texas (most notoriously at the famous SXSW festival,) Chip Taylor asked her to join his tour throughout Europe. They ultimately recorded four duet albums together before Carrie Rodriguez released her first solo album, Seven Angels on a Bicycle, in August 2006, and her second, She Ain't Me, in August 2008. Carrie Rodriguez also offers her own take on songs from performers such as Lucinda Williams, Joan Hiatt, and Hank Williams on her album Love and Circumstance, released in 2009 and named one of the Top 20 records of 2010 from the Americana Music Association. Such early success did great favors for her career, spurring her to tour extensively throughout the United States and Europe and collaborate with great acts like John Prine, Los Lobos, John Mayer, Patty Griffin, and Los Lonely Boys.
