Carter Barron Amphitheatre is located in Rock Creek Park. Initial plans for an amphitheatre in the Brightwood area of Washington, DC began in 1943 when Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr. reviewed and commented on the site selection for an amphitheatre. The original plan called for benches to seat about 1,500 and a stage equipped with a movie screen.
The placement of the Carter Barron Amphitheatre has maximized the natural acoustics of the bowl of the hill, causing Carter Barron Amphitheatre to quickly become known as a theater with "not a bad seat in the house." As such, Carter Barron Amphitheatre tickets are highly in demand, so be sure to book your seats far in advance.
Carter Barron Amphitheatre events have included throughout the years such acts as Kool and the Gang, Bruce Springsteen, U.S. Navy Band, NSO, Shakespeare Festival, Richard Pryor, and Chick Corea. This historical venue combines a beautiful natural landscape with some of the greatest talent the world has to offer. Check it out today.
